Sealers and coatings for surface protection

Sealers help prevents water absorption

Sealers partially fill the capillary pores on the surface of the concrete. By forming a thin film over the surface, they act to prevent water absorption. This means that water-based pollutants cannot enter either. Carbon dioxide diffusion is reduced. Sealers can be applied colourless, with a glazed like finish or as a covering, allowing them to be used with a variety of designs. However thin sealer coatings are not suitable for components subjected to high levels of mechanical or chemical stress..

Coating systems offer additional benefits

Coatings can serve an extremely wide range of purposes. As with other measures, the focus is on protecting against water absorption. In additions, coatings can also be used to target the improvement of additional characteristics such as diffusion resistance and resistance to wear - not to mention the fact that the ability to choose just the right colour can satisfy the need for an individualised design in the built environment.
