Crack Injection / Repair

Fast and reliable closure of cracks

Crack injection

Cracks in reinforced concrete are typical of concrete structures and cannot be entirely avoided. While concrete has a high compressive strength, its tensile strength is very low. As a result, tensile forces need to be absorbed by its reinforcement steel. If the changes in the reinforced concrete exceeds the elasticity of the concrete, cracks are formed.

One method which has proven its effectiveness is crack injection. The possible causes of the cracks and the structure’s conditions of use are carefully analysed in order to determine which Sto systems should be used.

  • Closure of cracks and cavities: the penetration of corrosive substances into cracks and cavities in the component is to be hindered or prevented.
  • Sealing of cracks: leaks in the structure caused by cracks and cavities are to be eliminated.
  • Structural bonding of structural elements: a bonding of cracked areas or cavities resistant to both compressive and tensile stresses.
  • Expansion-capable bonding of structural elements: creation of a sealing bond between both sides of a crack with a limited expansion capability.
