Functional principle

Dual feature of StoLotusan

The Lotus-Effect® is achieved by combining highly water-repellent properties with a special microtextured surface similar to that of the lotus leaf. This combination greatly reduces the available contact area for water and dirt, in turn significantly reducing adhesion.

Conventional facade paints:

Dirt particles form a deposit on the surface. Moisture and deposits of dirt provide the ideal environment for colonisation by microorganisms such as algae and fungi.
The surface is less hydrophobic and thus more
susceptible to wetting with water. Dirt particles find it easier to obtain a hold. On weather sides
in particular, microorganisms find an ideal environment for colonisation in the form of adequate moisture and nutrients from dirt deposits.

Dual feature of facade coatings with Lotus-Effect
Function 1:
The microtextured surface reduces the available
contact area for dirt and water to a minimum.
Function 2:
The surface is additionally ultra-hydrophobic. The rain drops roll off the surface immediately, taking the only loosely deposited dirt particles with them.
